Masquerade!

Some of my favourite Halloween looks are masks because there are so many endless possibilities for your designs! I hope you enjoy this how-to on my teal mask inspired by the peacock feather!

1 Use a glue stick to block out your brows. Take your time and make sure the hairs lay flat.
2 Apply foundation all over and concealer in areas of concern before setting with a translucent powder. Alternate layers of concealer and powder until you have fully covered the colour of your brows.
3 Buff a matte pink blush onto the apples of the cheeks. I chose matte because the mask will have lots of iridescence and sparkle and I wanted a balanced look.
4 Use a white eyeliner pencil to map out the shape of your mask and then fill it in with a green face paint or cream product to enhance the colour of the shadows you place on top.
5 Shade around the edges of the mask with a black eyeshadow. You can use a powder similar to your skin tone to help blend the colour.
6 Fill in your mask with a medium toned green shadow, shade the outer edges with a dark green, and highlight the centre points with a light green for lots of dimension.
7 Use eyelash adhesive to glue down your peacock feather and hide the seam with a jewel. Glue rhinestones around the edges of your mask in complimentary colours as a border.
8 Pat an eyeshadow primer all over the lid before applying a medium toned green shadow from lash line to crease. Blend a dark green eyeshadow on the outer corners of the upper and lower lash line and a light green eyeshadow on the inner corners.
9 Line the inner rim of the eye with a black eyeliner pencil and lightly coat your lashes with mascara before applying flasies. To apply false lashes rim the spine of the lash with glue and wait 30-40 seconds before placing the lash in the centre of the eye and then tucking in your inner and outer corners.
10 Pink shades really compliment greens so finish your look with a sheer pink lip gloss!

Eye Of The Tiger!

Here's a look I did last year for Halloween Week at work on our animal themed day! I had a lot of fun doing this look and it was the first time I really stepped into a more in depth face painting!

1 Using an orange face paint and sponge, bounce the colour onto the apples of your cheeks, back through the hollow of the cheek, the temple, and sides of the forehead above the brow.
2 Stipple a yellow face paint onto highlighted areas like the tops of your cheekbones, brow bone, centre of the forehead, and between the eyes on the bridge of the nose.
3 Use a black cream, liquid, cake liner, or face paint to draw your tiger stripes on the forehead and cheekbones by saturating your brush with paint, laying it down, and wiggling slightly before ending in a point. Do as many or as little stripes as you want. I like to do an odd number of stripes.
4 Use your black paint to draw the tigers nose by starting low under the tip of your nose, filling in underneath and hooping slightly around the tips and sides of the nostrils. Also draw two lines on either side of the mouth, outline the lower lip, and draw two curvy triangles on the sides of the mouth for teeth.
Apply shadow primer all over the lid and a deep coloured shadow from your lash line to the crease. Use a detailing brush to pull out the shadow on the inner and outer corners to create a more cat like shape, and run your shadow along the lower lash line for a smokey effect.
6 Rim the upper and lower waterline with a black pencil eyeliner and apply a light coat of mascara to the upper and lower lashes before applying a wispy set of lashes.
7 Fill in the lower lip with a red lipstick or stain for staying power.
8 Use a white face paint to fill in the teeth and add highlights to your black lines.
Add smalls details like lines on the inner corners of the eyes, small dots throughout your design, and rhinestones and glitter in certain areas to really make the look come to life!

Sunkissed in Pink!

Here's a super summery look inspired by Cameron Diaz! This look is super simple... think tight lined eyes, sun kissed glowing skin, and bright pink lips perfect for summer!

I'm willing to bet a nice deep navy liner in place of black would work great for this look! Also, I love Nars lipsticks and highly recommend checking out Lipstick in 'Schiap' and limited edition Pure Matte Lipstick in 'Carthage' if you have a light to medium skin tone, and Lipstick in 'Funny Face' if you have a medium to deep skin tone!

1 After smoothing on your primer (to ensure a long lasting makeup), apply your foundation all over and concealer under the eyes and on any other areas of concern. Set with a translucent powder. I've been using The Beauty Blender sponge to apply my foundation all week and I'm really loving it!
2 Sweep your bronzer through the back of the cheeks, temples and hairline... and lightly dust over the nose and chin for a sun kissed look. Apply a shimmering pink blush to the apples of the cheeks for a rosy glow.
3 Lightly sweep a neutral champaign shadow close to your skin colour all over the lid and along the lower lashline. This is what gives that naturally glossy look to the lids.
4 Smudge a medium deep brown toned shadow into the lashes on the outer corners of the eye.
5 With a black pencil, tight line the upper and lower lashes (inside of the eye) and make sure to wrap the liner in and around the inner corner of the eyes. If you skip the inner corners with your pencil the eyes will look incomplete.
6 Apply mascara liberally to upper lashes, and a little to the outer lower lashes.
7 Smooth on a bright pink lipstick and blot away the excess!

What kind of looks will you be sporting this summer? Don't forget, bright colours look fantastic against bronzed glowing skin!

Colourful Pastel Eyes

For this look I was inspired by Easter and cotton candy colours! It's a fun pastel coloured eyeshadow look that I hope you enjoy!

1 Apply foundation all over and concealer in areas of concern. Set your foundation with a loose translucent setting powder for a shine free, long lasting makeup. Laura Mercier's is one of my favourites!
2 Buff a creamy bronzer through the back of the cheeks, temples and around the hairline, and tap a bright pink creamy blush onto the apples of the cheeks.
3 Pat eyeshadow primer from lash line to brow bone and sweep your light blue colour on the first two thirds of the lid.
4 Press your bright blue shadow on the outter third of the lid and blend softly into the light blue for a nice gradient.
5 With a fluffy brush, softly blend a bright purple into the very outmost corner of the eye and into the outter crease as well.
Apply a pink shadow in the inner half of the crease. The pink will blend in with the blues and create a light lavender purple. Make sure all of your edges are soft.
Sweep your highlight colour along the brow bone. I chose a champaign colour with a slightly pink undertone to compliment the rest of the look!
8 Apply a creamy white pencil to the inner corner of the eyes and pat it in so it looks soft and subtle. Pat a light golden yellow shadow on top, and then sweep a light shimmering green along the bottom lashes.
9 With a liquid or gel liner apply a very fine black liner along the upper lashes for added definition.
10 Run a deep green pencil liner along the water line (inside of the eye) and make sure to wrap it around the inside of the inner corner of the eye. (Purple, or blue eyeliner would work great with this look too)!
11 Coat your upper lashes liberally with mascara and gently add some to the lower lashes.
12 Apply a pearlescent nude peach gloss to finish the look. I love the new Makeup Forever Lab Shine glosses. They have a nice brush applicator, fresh fruity scent and aren't sticky! They come in a TON of colours too!

I think this look works best with shimmery shadows that have a slight iridescence to ensure a perfectly blended finish! I used a lot of products in this look, and you can substitute all or any of the products for ones that you have at home, and adapt it any way you want!

March Favourites

March has come and gone and I'm STILL itching for spring! The couple of warmer days we've had that have allowed me to sport my leather jacket have been amazing! So with this topsy turvy weather I find myself purchasing summer products and slowly incorporating them into my daily routine.

Firstly, being a big fan of the Clinique Moisture Surge moisturizer gave me high hopes for the new Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer that launched this month and I can definitely say that I wasn't disappointed! It feels creamier and more hydrating than a lot of the other tinted moisturizers I've tried and delivers the perfect amount of light coverage. Great for all skin types, oil free, and all for only $30! So even though Shade 01 is STILL too dark for my super fair skin, I'm gonna bring that baby all the way down my neck and rock it regardless!

Urban Decay has also launched a lot of new products these past few months that I'm loving! I'm a huge fan of cream products so naturally I was excited to see all the new cream blushes, highlighters, and jumbo shadow pencils hit the stores. The textures of the Afterglow cream blushes are amazing (not too thick or greasy) and they come in a variety of gorgeous colours that work great on cheeks and lips! (I grabbed the bright pink called 'Quickie'). The chunky shadow pencils have the same great formula as the 24/7 eye liner pencils and are EXTREMELY pigmented. They dry down to a super smudge proof and waterproof finish and work great if your in rush or as a base to make your shadows pop and last all day. The only problem is... I want them all! And don't forget to keep your eyes peeled, it's Urban Decay's 15th birthday and they'll be celebrating with limited edition goodies throughout the year!

As a girl forever obsessed with hydrating her dry and puffy hair I decided to give Couture Colour's Pequi Oil Treatment a shot. Although the name says 'Oil Treatment', this product works and feels more like a serum. It makes my hair feel super silky and has a light delicious coconut smell! I think the reason that they call this a treatment is because not only does it tame frizz, smooth, and add shine... it has proteins, vitamins A and E, and moisturizing antioxidants! Another thing that really stood out to me about this product was that it's alcohol free and wont do any damage to my hair whatsoever! I love this stuff!

Leave a comment and let me know what products you're loving this month! I'm always interested in trying fun new products!
