Tangerine Tango Smoke!

Here's a great smokey eye look inspired by Tangerine Tango that's perfect for spring and summer evenings!

For those of us with blue eyes, this orange trend is perfect because it really makes blues pop!

1 Apply foundation all over and concealer in areas of concern. Set with a translucent powder.

2 Blend bronzer through the backs of the cheeks, and around the hair and jawline. Apply a peach-bronze blush to compliment the look onto the cheeks.

3 Pat eyeshadow primer all over the lid before pressing a burnt orange pigment from lash line to crease on the first two thirds of the lid. Blend your edges.

4 Press a black eyeshadow onto the outer most third of the lid and blend. Continue to apply the shadow and blend until you have a good level of intensity and a natural gradation of colour.

5 Line the upper and lower waterlines (inside of the eye) and smudge into the lower lashes on the outer corners.

6 Bring your black shadow on the outer corners of the lower lashes to give a smouldered and smokey look. Pack your burnt orange pigment onto the inner half of the lower lash line and lightly blend across the black.

7 Blend a light champaign shadow through the brow bone and onto the inner corners of the eye for a barely there highlighted look!

8 Apply lots of mascara to the upper and lower lashes.

9 Finish with lip balm to hydrate and naturally plump!

Triadic Tangerine Tango!

At a training conference I recently attended we talked a lot about the colour wheel and different colour schemes. 

Here's a Pantone Universe colour of the year 'Tangerine Tango' inspired shadow look using a triadic colour scheme!

1 Apply foundation all over and concealer in areas of the concern and set with a translucent powder.

2 Buff bronzer through the backs of cheeks, temples and hairline, and apply a pinky blush further back on the cheeks.

3 Pat an eyeshadow primer all over the lid before smoothing on a purple cream base from lash line to crease. The purple cream will help our shadows come out more vibrantly!

4 Blend a bright purple shadow high through the crease and onto the entire lid concentrating the colour on both the outer and inner corners. 

5 Press a bright tangerine pigment onto the centre of the lid directly above the iris and gently blend the edges.

6 Gently blend a green eyeshadow alone the lower lash line and lightly blend the colour up and out to meet the purple shadow on the outside corner of the eye. This will help to lift the eye and give the shadow a slight cat like shape!

7 Rim the upper and lower waterlines (inside of the eye). Remember to wrap around the inner corners of the eyes and smudge a little into the lower lashes/lash line on the outer corners of the eyes. Apply lots of mascara!

8 Finish the look with a complimentary light nude pink gloss or tinted lip balm!

Graphic in Green!

Here's a look I came up with while having some fun with products this weekend! Greens my favourite colour and I don't think I've ever done a green look before! So here we are... hope you guys enjoy it!

1 Apply foundation all over and concealer in areas of concern. Set with a translucent powder

2 Buff bronzer through the backs of cheeks, temples and hairline and apply a pink pop of blush high on the backs of the cheekbones.
3 Use a cream eyeshadow all over the lid from lash line to just above the crease and leave the edges sharp. This creamy base will not only help our shadow stay in place, it will increase the bold pigment we place on top!
4 Press a green eyeshadow directly on top of the creamy base for strong saturated colour.
5 Use a cream eyeliner to line your upper lash line and trace through the crease around the shape you created with your shadow. Take the time to perfect your lines.
6 Use your cream eyeliner to draw a straight line under the lower lashes winged it out on both ends and keeping the gaps open on both the inner and outer corners.
7 Blend the bottom edges of your black eyeliner down and out with a black eyeshadow. Blend your original green shadow along the edge of the lower liner as well.
8 Use a glitter adhesive to apply a light green glitter to the centre of the eye, and a darker green glitter on the outer and inner thirds of the eye.
9 Blend a white cream shadow under the brow, on the inner corners of the eye, and to sharpen the edges of your flicks on the outer corners. Apply this to the waterline to further open the eyes.
10 Apply a light coat of mascara and long wispy lashes.
11 Lightly coat the lips with a neutral lip gloss!

Snowflakes!

I wore this fun look to my 'Winter Wonderland' themed holiday meeting at work! By the time I took these pictures I'd already been running around for 7 hours so it's sadly a bit faded. The inner corner highlight was much stronger and the entire look was much more glittery than it photographed!

AAANnnyyway! Sorry I've been MIA, the holiday season is busy busy busy! Hope you guys enjoy this look!

  

1 Pat an eyeshadow primer all over the lid.
2 Peel off the eyeshadow sticker and line it up with your lash line. Hold the far sides down with your thumb and index finger and use your other hand to rub and smooth the back of the sticker to transfer the design.
3 When removed, you will see the design and feel that the shadow feels very sticky and creamy. Try to keep your eye as closed as possible so that you don't smear the snowflake design! Use a stiff brush or you finger to soften the edges.
4 Apply a translucent powder on top of the snow flake to set it into place. Press an iridescent blue shadow all over the lid starting 2/3's of the way in. Wrap it around the lower lash line as well. Make sure you use a small brush around the intricate design of the snowflakes!
5 Press a light blue iridescent shadow on the first third of the lid and a frosty duo chrome white/green on the inner corners of the eyes. Use this duo chrome eyeshadow to soften the edges all around your blue eyeshadow (top and bottom) and to highlight the brow to make the whole look glow! I brought this colour down onto my cheekbones as well to tie the whole look together!
6 Pat a fine, light blue glitter all over the lid.
7 Define the outer corner of the upper lash line with a thin line of black liquid or gel liner and apply lots of mascara to the upper lashes!

Sunkissed in Pink!

Here's a super summery look inspired by Cameron Diaz! This look is super simple... think tight lined eyes, sun kissed glowing skin, and bright pink lips perfect for summer!

I'm willing to bet a nice deep navy liner in place of black would work great for this look! Also, I love Nars lipsticks and highly recommend checking out Lipstick in 'Schiap' and limited edition Pure Matte Lipstick in 'Carthage' if you have a light to medium skin tone, and Lipstick in 'Funny Face' if you have a medium to deep skin tone!

1 After smoothing on your primer (to ensure a long lasting makeup), apply your foundation all over and concealer under the eyes and on any other areas of concern. Set with a translucent powder. I've been using The Beauty Blender sponge to apply my foundation all week and I'm really loving it!
2 Sweep your bronzer through the back of the cheeks, temples and hairline... and lightly dust over the nose and chin for a sun kissed look. Apply a shimmering pink blush to the apples of the cheeks for a rosy glow.
3 Lightly sweep a neutral champaign shadow close to your skin colour all over the lid and along the lower lashline. This is what gives that naturally glossy look to the lids.
4 Smudge a medium deep brown toned shadow into the lashes on the outer corners of the eye.
5 With a black pencil, tight line the upper and lower lashes (inside of the eye) and make sure to wrap the liner in and around the inner corner of the eyes. If you skip the inner corners with your pencil the eyes will look incomplete.
6 Apply mascara liberally to upper lashes, and a little to the outer lower lashes.
7 Smooth on a bright pink lipstick and blot away the excess!

Colourful Pastel Eyes

For this look I was inspired by Easter and cotton candy colours! It's a fun pastel coloured eyeshadow look that I hope you enjoy!

1 Apply foundation all over and concealer in areas of concern. Set your foundation with a loose translucent setting powder for a shine free, long lasting makeup. Laura Mercier's is one of my favourites!

2 Buff a creamy bronzer through the back of the cheeks, temples and around the hairline, and tap a bright pink creamy blush onto the apples of the cheeks.

3 Pat eyeshadow primer from lash line to brow bone and sweep your light blue colour on the first two thirds of the lid.

4 Press your bright blue shadow on the outter third of the lid and blend softly into the light blue for a nice gradient.

5 With a fluffy brush, softly blend a bright purple into the very outmost corner of the eye and into the outter crease as well. 

6 Apply a pink shadow in the inner half of the crease. The pink will blend in with the blues and create a light lavender purple. Make sure all of your edges are soft.

7 Sweep your highlight colour along the brow bone. I chose a champaign colour with a slightly pink undertone to compliment the rest of the look!

8 Apply a creamy white pencil to the inner corner of the eyes and pat it in so it looks soft and subtle. Pat a light golden yellow shadow on top, and then sweep a light shimmering green along the bottom lashes.

9 With a liquid or gel liner apply a very fine black liner along the upper lashes for added definition.

10 Run a deep green pencil liner along the water line (inside of the eye) and make sure to wrap it around the inside of the inner corner of the eye. (Purple, or blue eyeliner would work great with this look too)!

11 Coat your upper lashes liberally with mascara and gently add some to the lower lashes.

12 Apply a pearlescent nude peach gloss to finish the look. I love the new Makeup Forever Lab Shine glosses. They have a nice brush applicator, fresh fruity scent and aren't sticky! They come in a TON of colours too!

I think this look works best with shimmery shadows that have a slight iridescence to ensure a perfectly blended finish! I used a lot of products in this look, and you can substitute all or any of the products for ones that you have at home, and adapt it any way you want!

Dramatic Smokey Eye

Here's a sexy look for a night on the town! A perfect combo with that little black dress. (Feel free to tone down the makeup and adjust it to suit your own style).

1 After applying foundation all over, and concealer in area's you need it (under the eyes, around the nose, on any blemishes), lightly dust on your setting powder to mattify and ensure a long lasting makeup.

2 Lightly sweep your bronzer across the back of the cheeks, temples, and hairline. Focus on the hollows of your cheeks to further sculpt your cheekbones.

3 Apply your blush lightly to the apples of the cheeks. When doing such a dramatic eye, it's important to keep the rest of the makeup neutral, so choose a natural blush tone.

4 After applying your eyeshadow primer, sweep your pink champaign colour from lashline to crease, and in the inner corner of the eye.

5 Apply your black eyeshadow directly into the crease of the eye. Start blending the outside edge all around the black shadow up and out, pulling the shadow gently into a more cat like shape. Blending is always easer with a clean brush, so if you can, have several  blending brushes on hand (especially for dramatic looks).

6 Next, blend your highlight colour directly under the brow. Not only will this highlight your brow bone, it will help blend the edge of the black shadow even more.

7 With an eyeliner brush, trace a thin line of gel liner all the way along your upper lashline, going slightly thicker towards the outer corner.

8 Apply a pencil eyeliner all along the inside of the eye and lightly drag it under the lower lashes. Remember to line the top and bottom of the waterline! Lining the inside of your upper lashes is called tightlining... this is especially important when doing such a dark look because you don't want any light areas showing. I always use a waterproof eyeliner pencil to ensure it stays on as long as possible. If you don't have sensitive eyes, try gently pressing a black eyeshadow ontop of the liner on your waterline. It will really lock in the colour.

9 Smudge the liner on the lower lashline and blend black eyeshadow over top of it.

10 Apply mascara lightly on the top lashes, and liberally on the bottom lashes.

11 Apply glue to your false lashes and wait 30 seconds before applying the lash to let the glue get tacky. I use tweezers to apply my false lashes and I find it makes the application a lot easier! Falsies are key with this look because your real lashes tend to get lost behind all the dark shadow.

12 And FINALLY, keep it simple with a light, neutral pink gloss and voila! A sexy smokey cat eye your guaranteed to get loads of compliments on!

Dark eyeshadows tend to have a alot of fall out and can be really hard to clean up after your look is done. To avoid this problem, you may want to do your eyes first and leave your foundation for last!

The key to being successful with this look is to take your time. It's an intense look that really needs soft blended edges, and sometimes blending can be frustrating and tedious. It's also a makeup that may not look very nice in the beginning stages... stick with it and really take your time!
